Fun facts about Kelsi:

1. Favorite color: gray-blue

2. Favorite ice cream flavor: Americone Dream

3. Childhood memory: I used to live in Florida and I remember a bright sunny day. A day perfect for yard sales. What did we do? We had a yard sale of course! I think I was around 7-8 years old at the time. We had our best friends over from across the state. I remember spending all day outside, blasting Savage Garden and wearing my mom's shoes. I loved that day.

4. High school memory: so many! It's hard to pick just one. There was one day, around this time of year, when we musical students got together on a Saturday to work on the set for Cinderella. I was a senior and I felt so cool. You know the feeling, I assume. I don't remember specific details of what I did, I just know that I felt amazing. I was finally part of the musical and I loved it. I wore flip flops and by the end of the day my feet had black paint all over them. There is something so satisfying about working on a stage with all of your fellow cast mates. It gives me warm fuzzies.

5. Nicknames over the years: kewsi, kelso, koose, crazy eyes, peach, effie, margaret gabby, pumpkin, sweetheart, popsicle, strawborange, madison. I mean, I have had countless nicknames but nobody ever uses them anymore. I think I'm ok with Kelsi for now. *I forgot one (and probably many others): Kelfie

6. Something random that is happy: getting free things.

7. Name a legitimate fear and explain: clowns. I was a Brownie in Girl Scouts and we went to the circus. There was a clown that would not leave me alone. To this day I get anxiety thinking about it. When I see one, I remember that and wish to avoid it at all costs.

8. Favorite music genre: road trip music. It is a genre. Nick and I decided separately that it was the best and when we asked each other this question, we knew it was meant to be. I mean, how many people really have the exact same taste in road trip music?!

9. Meaningful quote: Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion. - Martha Graham. I love this quote because it reminds me to be passionate about the things I love.

10. Something recently learned: I was talking to Nick about how I wish I wasn't so reckless with my heart in high school. There was a boy I chased for two years and every time I felt that I got close, he would be less than nice and my heart would just hurt. I constantly forgave him and he constantly hurt me. My friends would always tell me to move on and that he wasn't worth it. Did I listen? Of course not. One day, he messed up real bad and I drew the line. My heart just couldn't take it anymore. I told Nick that I hope our girls learn from my mistake and lock their hearts. Nick knows the entire story and he put me in the right state of mind when I confessed this. He told me that I did nothing wrong. Until this moment, I felt responsible for all that happened between me and this boy. I was wrong to feel that way. One thing Nick told me will stick with me forever and I am so happy he will be the father of my daughters. He said (roughly quoted),
"I hope that one day our daughters are like you, Kelsi. Your love is a great example of Christ. The fact that you were able to forgive this boy for all he did to you time and time again is an example of Christ-like love. I hope our daughters will be able to forgive and love as much as you can."
I have since forgiven this boy again. I hope that I can teach my daughters how to forgive and love, but also when to walk away.
